The Importance of Regular Practice
“There is tremendous power in regularity and discipline. It is important to sit every day twice a day and to do your practice. You have to demand that of your life. Otherwise your life will always win. There will always be a reason not to sit.”
– S. Shambhavananda

Words to Inspire!
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?Actually, who are you NOT to be?You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.It's not just in some of us; it's in EVERYONE.As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.-1994 Inaugural Speech of Nelson Mandela

Education: I received my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Certification in June, 2008 from the Shambhava School of Yoga/Shoshoni Yoga Retreat in Rollinsville Colorado, a premier, Yoga Alliance registered yoga school. This was a 3 week on-site intensive program that included the study and teaching of: breath-focused Hatha yoga, alignment and biomechanics, meditation practice, and Sanskrit chanting. I am a 200 RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) with The Yoga Alliance. I have over 15 years of personal yoga practice. Goals: My goal with Om Yoga Fitness is to introduce the basics of yoga, meditation and chanting to any student willing to come to the mat! I look forward to working with students of all abilities to develop self-awareness in both mind and body and help them achieve whatever goals they have for their individual yoga practice. Om Yoga Fitness is a non-competitive yoga practice, encouraging students to find joy in their own yoga experience. There is no pre-requisite and each student, through assisted modification, can find a level at which they are comfortable working. I encourage students to listen to their body and respect their limitations. This is a place where students are encouraged to let go of expectations and begin to find their inner-awesomeness! Yoga Stuff: I believe that yoga is not only a wonderful way to shape and tone the body, but also essential to a calm, focused life. Dharana (Concentration), Pranayama (Breath), and Meditation practice can be done not only on the on the mat, but also at home or at work as a way to deal with obstacles met on the journey through this life! Yoga can facilitate good mental health and a harmonious approach to living, allowing for the uniting of body mind and spirit! Yoga’s benefits are something that can only be truly understood thru practice. Its positive effects come, not from the outward physical work, but from the internal transformation that comes with the breath and meditative components. It is a comprehensive system where positive effects come, not only from the outward physical work, but also from the internal cultivation of breath and reflection. |
